“Education is the most powerful weapon with which to change the world.

Thank you for your interest in sponsoring a school aged child in eastern DRC. Primary school enrollment in this region of the world is 58%. For those children who do enroll, the drop-out rate by the end of the first year is 20%. This means that nearly 1 in 3 children in the east will never set foot it a classroom. For those who do, the average completion rate between the first and sixth year is 29%. Beyond primary, less than 20% of children will enroll in secondary school. This is heartbreaking. Data is from ICRC, link is found here
There are some very encouraging statistics from around the world about what happens when you send children to school, especially girls.
A girl born to a literate mother is 50% more likely to survive past the age of 5
Educated mothers are more than twice as likely to send their children to school
A girl will an extra year of education can earn 20% more as an adult

Your support has the power to change a life!
Reeds of Hope currently supports primary through vocational and university level students by sending them to school. Monthly sponsorships pay school fees for children who would otherwise not attend. These sponsorships support the Reeds of Hope mission: to provide opportunities for children and families to be strong, healthy, and to have hope in God’s love and future for them.
